The Loudoun Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support programs that enhance the educational experience of the students and teachers in Loudoun County Public Schools. Every year the Foundation awards thousands of dollars in teacher classroom grants for innovative and creative projects that support learning and academic excellence.

This school year, the Loudoun Education Foundation will extend their grant program to include Multicultural Education Grants thanks to a $20,000 grant from Loudoun Interfaith Bridges.

“The Loudoun Education Foundation is very fortunate to be a recipient of a Multicultural Education Grant from Loudoun Interfaith Bridges,” says Dawn Meyer, the executive director of the Loudoun Education Foundation. “This grant money enables us to fund projects in Loudoun County public schools that help students learn about different ethnic groups, cultures and customs. We have many great projects being funded by this grant. Sixth graders at JL Simpson Middle School are researching the cultures and customs of 15 different ethnic groups and then presenting their research to schoolmates, teachers and parents; English language learners from Broad Run High School are producing a multicultural oriented literary and art magazine for the entire school to enjoy; and two high schools, Park View and Loudoun Valley, are working together to develop student leaders in the areas of equity and social justice. These are only a few of the wonderful projects made possible through a grant from Loudoun Interfaith Bridges.”

This spring the Loudoun Education Foundation will award up to $11,000 in additional multicultural grants to be used during the 2012-2013 school year.
